For a long animation, 25 is often a good compromise. You will get very nice results with 30, but be prepared to animate lots of frames. I always use clean cut numbers because you will often need to do frames to seconds conversions in your head, which is easier when the numbers count by 5s or 10s. Don't listen to people who use 24 fps, that doesn't even make sense.
Uh oh! I think I'm in trouble! I use 24 fps!
Well, I can see how 25 fps would make sense then when you put it that way. Though it may be a little more helpful to elaborate a bit more on how I will often need to do frames to seconds conversions in my head. Because right below the timeline shows your Current Frame, Frame Rate, and of course Elapsed Time. Is this so I won't be lazy be a better mathematician? I don't know, you may have to tell me.
If 24 fps doesn't make sense, then are you suggesting I should set my fps to 20, 25, or 30?
Thanks.
I guess if there's no Elapsed Time then its just easier to figure it out in your head.

I guess that makes sense. Like doing math without a calculator?

Yeup. I never even knew they had an Elapsed Time thing in Flash or anything, that's pretty cool.

24 FPS is nice, just the math would be confusing when you're trying to figure something out as Lange just said. 25 would be more convenient if you really like 24, as 25 won't be too much of a difference and it will have more clean numbers for you. A lot of users I know use 30, but it's all self preference and you can use whatever you want. I personally use 30 and I find it pretty nice, for me, it helps me create some nice clean animations and help show some sexy flow. Also, it's just a fun to use higher FPS, but the higher FPS you use than the more frames you need to use up. And Flash has it's cap limit so you got to be careful, but then again we've found ways to exceed the limit anyways. : )HarryControl wrote:

Well switching wouldn't be a problem at all for me since there's not really any significant difference between 24 and 25 fps. As for myself and 30 fps, it sounds a little scary as I tend to do more frame-by-frame work with each passing year as a sprite animator.

I've used 24 fps, though it's kind of odd how I seem to mind boggle some people's brains on how I can make my animations still look quite smooth. I may never know why. Maybe it's a secret weapon of mine that I'm not even aware of. XP

So Lange, I'm curious to know if you ever plan on doing any tutorials centered around Blender.

No, because nobody uses it. Lets see a decent animation on this site to see if Lange's lessons have really affected us >

Interesting read, especially vector vs bitmap.
I might need some time reading them.
