Hey guys so I have a problem. I have CS5 (trial version) and I do what you did on Paint.NET. Instead, when I copy my sprites on to CS5 they appear with a black box where the background used to be. Is this a byproduct of me using CS5 (I have seen CS4 condemned on this site) or am I just doing it wrong? What are possible mistakes I could have made? I appreciate any and all responses.

Just get Paint.Net. It's free!

What I suggest is that you take the sprites out of your sheets and the go to File>New once you are done. Save the sprites you took out of the sheets as a .png, then go to Flash. File>Import to stage. Select the sprites you just saved. Now select the sprites. Now I forgot what your SUPPOSE to do, but if you go to page 1 of this thread, you will see me asking what to do with the sprites you imported to the stage, because you can't take any of them out. But if I was you, I'd Modify>Bitmap>Trace Bitmap. ONLY because there is no color behind the sprites.
I'm going to die for telling you this.

That works and may even make the sprites higher quality, but when you just break apart it doesn't increase file size and then you don't get a lot of lag...

Trace makes flash add the image into memory. Break apart doesn't. Something like that. Thats why break apart doesn't increase file size.

There's also in fireworks and flash a tolerance settings.
if the creator of the sheet was retarded enough to use an exact color used on the sprite as part of the BG, He/she must be Trololololol'd till they cry
