yea flash is very picky about sound files. your file needs to be converted into the proper bit rate, khz, and format.

I suggest you get audacity or some other sound editor. import your sound into it, save it as either a wav or mp3 file format. check your preferences and settings to make sure its being saved at 44000 hz(or 22000 per channel) and make sure the bit rate (or bps) is either 80, 128, 160. or 320(higher number = higher quality but also higher file size)

I'm pretty sure thats everything needed to import to flash. this can also be used to fix files that don't sound right in flash.(for example one time i imported a sound of a character saying something but when i played it in flash it the pitch was high and squeaky)

Sir, It's 44.1 kHz (44100 hz) OR 22.05 kHz (22050 hz) lol

When converting people mistakenly believe that it's best to always choose 44100 kHz, but you want to choose the kHz that's closest to the source audio file. For Flash that is either 44100 or 22050 hz.

Also, WAV is usually the better format to convert SMALL audio files (usual sound effect files) to as it is a lossless audio format whereas for any audio file that is bigger (a music file for example), you will want to convert it to MP3 as it is lossy and therefor smaller at a very minuscule drop in quality.

Lastly, there's usually no reason not to go up to 320 kbps on the bit rate. Gotta make sure that sound quality is good yo.

You're right WAV actually worked better...guess I was so focused on having it converted to an mp3 that I didn't notice WAV files work just as good lol! Thnx Rapidfir3Pho3nix, 5hock. Much appreciated.
