2014 is almost here
12/30/2013, 5:53 pm
so we're just one day away from 2014.
thought i'd create this topic so that we can reflect on what have we accomplished this year and perhaps even what do you want to accomplish next year.
i'll start
this year i've;
next year i want to;
thought i'd create this topic so that we can reflect on what have we accomplished this year and perhaps even what do you want to accomplish next year.
i'll start
this year i've;
- been more active online?????? i dont even know if that's a good thing. i've just started to use skype more and talk with people more. i used to be really really shy (psst i still am)
- finished more drawings! thats a good one i think. haven't finished as many as i've wanted to, but hey it's a start. at least now finishing drawings usually takes me a few days/weeks, as opposed to months
- done 480 sketches this year. last year it was around 300 or something, so i guess this counts too!
- started venturing into other things besides art and animation - like programming, music, etc. i haven't posted much about those things but i've been working on a lot more
- been more organized overall. my computer, for example, used to be a freaking mess. i could spend weeks trying to find something. now it takes me seconds. sometimes i tend to go and mess up things again, but then i tend to go and organize it all over again
next year i want to;
- FINISH MORE DRAWINGS
- just draw more in general. hope to get at least 1000 sketches done next year. i never draw as much as i feel i should, so i'll try and do a few doodles everyday (and will keep it going, unlike this year where i'd stop drawing for a few months then draw for a bit and then stop again)
- be less shy, talk with people more
- finish at least one hand drawn animation
- try to get a basic game done (not sure if i'll post it if i get it done)
- finish 3 songs
- explore more things, experiment more. i have this big fear of failing, gotta stop with that and just do things more. i can fail 100 times, and it will suck, but at least i will know 100 things to avoid doing next time.
- stop being so goddamn lazy
- learn how2pixelart
- learn blender???? actually i've been trying, but progress has been slow
- start a diary maybe??????? sounds kinda lame but i think it'd be cool to keep one. i like to have a place to keep all my thoughts and not lose any. i think about lots of things daily and some times i tend to lose cool ideas and such because of that. having a diary of sorts probably would take care of that. idk
- do even more stuff but i think this is enough

Guess for me I've:
1. Joined up here, met some cool people who I added on skype.
2. Completed my first entry for a collab.
3. Gained more knowledge with using Flash
Next year I want to:
1. Complete some more of my uncompleted animations
2. Meet more cool people.
3. Get a new job (Hated my old one >->)
4. Officially get back into drawing, rekindle my old passion and what not

No seriously I look back on this year an I don't think I've accomplished a single thing
I've always been lazy but I swear I was never this unproductive before. My New Year's resolution might as well be "do something."
I've considered doing some sort of regular excercise. Not for any fitness reasons but because it would probably do a far better job at motivating me to do something than just sitting in front of a computer screen complaining about how my life mostly consists of sitting in front of a computer screen.

then just start doing something?????? honestly you can dream all you want but you need to actually start doing stuff, and there's nothing else that can help you with that.
i guess the only thing i can say is to start small and maybe keep track of what you have done already. usually that helps me. it's hard to stay motivated though, but the only thing i can think of is to just keep doing it. if you don't really want to do it, no one can really make you do it.
idk sorry for the incoherent rambles

need a job, driver's license, do good in school, make my life less shitty. This year was a really bad year for me. maybe only the first quarter was good.

I made too many promises to myself. Not doing that next year, just gonna do things to make myself a better person and prepare myself for my future.

i understand how that is, haha
i actually like making those, though. at the end of the year i can see how many i've done and how many i haven't. it's a nice way to keep motivated, at least imo

The best thing about this year was my trip to Japan. Rest was shit.
Stuff for this year:
- Get a fucking job.
- Get my drivers license so people will stop bitching.
- Lose more weight.
- Then bulk.
- Work more on drawings and drawn animation
- Become a pro pixel artist
- Work in Maya 3D
- Become a YT shorts animator (I wish)
- Start my own Manga which I've been wanting to start for a long time D:
- Making my own 2D game
That's mainly it xD

Lol a lot of you have to get your driver's licenses huh? The whole deal isn't too bad just they tend to fail you for smallest little mistake :/ but then again I guess that depends on what state you live in.

That actually reminds me I was suppose to get my G1 in summer D:
How exactly does the driver license thing work in the states? Here you get G1, G2, then G.

if you're under 18 you get a permit first (written test) then you can practice driving with an adult with a driver license, then you take the driving test and can drive. or if you're over 18 you just take the test i think

In some states you can get your permit as early as 15-16 and then get your license around 16-17. For me specifically the law was recently changed here that it was mandatory even if you are 18 to have your permit for about 6-8 months I think before being eligible to obtain your license.

I live in PA, if you have your permit and you're 18 or older you don't have to wait 6 months. That only applies if you're 16

In the UK you need a provisional license and it costs £30 to take a theory test before taking a real driving exam.

Like I said its not the same for everywhere. Here even IF you ARE 18 you STILL need to have your permit for the 6 months.
