Mighty No 9
9/1/2013, 5:48 am
Keiji Inafune gives Capcom a massive fuck you.
Not directly, but through his own spiritual successor to Mega Man, a game called Mighty No 9 which is getting funded through Kickstarter.
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mightyno9/mighty-no-9

The team is composed of former Mega Man devs and is an obvious reaction to Capcom's unfathomable stupidity in killing the Mega Man franchise. The game consists of knock offs of everything from Mega Man, from the characters to the structure of the game. Despite this, it looks great. The project goal is $900,000, but in a single day they've reached one third of that. The highest stretch goal is$2,500,000 reduced to $2,200,000 for a Wii U, 360 and PS3 release. Watch them reach it. Watch the fans demonstrate a collective "fuck you Capcom" just by donating. Keiji is a goddamn genius.
Also, the highest backing reward is at $10,000. What do you get? Dinner with Keiji. Someone has already claimed it.

I'm guessing Capcom still owns it, so looks like Megaman isn't going to do anything.@Saul wrote:Mighty No. 9 looks amazing and all... but... what will happen to Mega Man? D:

a) ignore them and continue to treat Mega Man like shit
b) sue them and continue to treat Mega Man like shit
or c) make a new Mega Man game to try and one-up them

If Capcom actually gave up on treating him like shit and gave Mega Man to Comcept (where he should belong anyway) they could make Mega Man in this game somehow an antihero of Beck or something like that, I don't want the blue bomber to be completely forgotten. :S@BlitznBurst wrote:They'll either@Saul wrote:Mighty No. 9 looks amazing and all... but... what will happen to Mega Man? I don't understand why capcom just gave up on megaman. He was their mascot for god knows how long.

there should be 6 bosses and have each character's first letter spell Capcom or something like that

We can hope for the future

I think that's the problem. they started the other series and then completely ignored the original one.
Sure the X series was awesome.
Sure the megaman Zero series almost made me cry when Zero died (sorry for the spoiler to anyone who hasn't played)
And sure the ZX series is pretty awesome too (even though they gave up on it one game too soon since there are a few plot points to fill)
But classic megaman is what created them basically.
I want to see it again.
that's why I went ape-shit when they made that megaman vs street fighter game. 'Twas fun.

This game looks seriously sick. Capcom can kindly kiss Inafune's ass if they have a problem with it.

$839,299 out of $900.000 in one single day, holyshit. Mega Man fans are awesome.
I'm hoping for that stretch goal for consoles, that game deserves it.

well yeah but if you're willing to spend 800 dollars to support a video game you're probably not gonna mind another 50 for the game itself
if it was some kind of bonus edition then it'd probably be worth all the extra money if only for bragging rights lol
