Sonic: After the Sequel
6/15/2013, 5:45 pm
Sonic: After the Sequel is LakeFeperd's second finished Sonic fangame. The first was Sonic: Before the Sequel, which is an interpretation of the events between Sonic 1 and 2. In case you haven't guessed, After the Sequel takes place between Sonic 2 and 3.
Sonic BTS was given an original soundtrack by four musicians and rereleased a year later as an updated version.
After a year of effort, he's finished it ATS, and six musicians (plus several others who pitched in some help), including the original four and now myself, have created a fully original soundtrack for the game, featuring original work and remixes of Sonic music.
At last, here is the game.

I love how my topic about this gets ignored but when Lange posts one it gets three posts within the hour. :<
Very great game, but unfortunately the cutscenes have lots of slowdown for me, and the automatically end when the music is finished. And the SWF files don't even have the music :<
Dream Dance Zone is a fucking bitch, by the way. I got three game overs in it, but I beat it, finally! Now to go hunting for the special rings...
**EDIT** You'll be posting a review? Another sprilite?

The bosses in this game are laughably easy. BTS's bosses were far better imo. I managed to get through the boss rush without dying once. I rarely ever got farther than World's Largest Unicycle in BTS.

Sorry Blitz if I had seen your thread I would have bumped it. But hey you've got an official representative posting for it anyway as a release thread so what the hell.
Lake updated the game with some fixes as 1.1, so redownload it if you haven't.
As for controllers, not sure if this can use pc controllers by default, you can always try joy2key.
Aside from some code support and bugfixes, everything in the game was made by LakeFeperd, except for the Sonic and Tails sprites which are Jayden's superb work, and the soundtrack was made by the six of us musicians.

In act 2 there's a very tall, wide room with the red lights gimmick. On a platform sticking out of the left side wall, there's a hidden path indicated by a ring barely poking out of the wall (visible during one frame of its animation). Follow it into a small room with the special ring.@BlitznBurst wrote:Holy shit where the fuck is Storm Station's special ring. I've searched the stage like five times and can't find it D:

Its awesome when games are really hard like that but its also like assholey. I'm sure hardly anyone woulda found that if you hadn't told us (or someone else who worked on the game).

I'm surprised with the reception of the cutscene art. Quite a few people over at Sonic Retro and SFGHQ have said they hate it. I for one love it. The music in this game is just so frickin' lovely! I'm not sure if my favourite track is Breakfast Time (Horizon Heights Boss Phase 2), World's Largest Pogo Stick (Redhot Ride Boss, which may have lied about itself), The Reckless One (Parhelion Peak Boss), Mach Sigma (Can't be bothered to copy and paste greek letters right now) or From Whence You Came. I'm definitely going to be using 2 and 3 in upcoming animations.
