Ok, now to get back to my business, imma critique this!
Ok, the sound is good and the effects are good, so you can have 2 points, but, the movement was fluid, but not that good in my view, it could of used some skewing, also for some reasons in some places the animation stops, i know its not lag, my laptop can run shit 10x better than this fast, so please check that frame or two, this does have some pace, but you should also use a higher FPS in tests like these, for example 30 or 40, anyway, for a test its good, 6/10, could use much better work!

Cool. That is all I can say without nitpicking. Wish it were something more lengthy to work with.

i know a guy who animates in 64 fps, and i sometime animate in 48.
anyway this was good, but like wael said...well let me say it clearer.
you put them too much time in the air like stones, so just delete some frames in the falling parts.

when I watch this, I was happy, you did a real good job.

But when you do it, this looks very much like maple style, if you're a maple animator you need to get out of that style when animating a sonic character.

and I'll bet you all anything that this is 30 FPS. going any higher than 30 FPS is completely retarded and you should shoot yourself if you do. I don't give two shits if your good friend animates at 40 or 48 or fucking 200. It's not needed and the only thing it does is give you the chance to make it a little smoother. In my opinion, the highest you should ever go is 33, that was pivots framerate top out.

The only advice I can give you is to not use maple style when animating sonic and to to make the sprites sort of dip when he lands. Everything else is fine.

Don't listen to tal or wael, as they're both... eeh... at least don't listen to them when it comes to frame rate. going any higher than 30 is stupid. Ask anyone else besides those two (and kane apparently)

aight. let me get to you guys

Going higher fps?
no. that's just stupid it makes your animation a little bit smoother.
but it's not something you NEED TO HAVE. Just let people animate at their pace
and let them improve in it, for me it's 25fps and i'll keep it like that.

@SXR123
I don't get why people say i animate like maple all the time .D.
i dont know ''how you animate maple'' and ''how you animate in other sprites''.
really..I just animate how i animate..LOL

i'm not sure what you guys mean with ''maplestory style''
in my eyes YOU GUYS have a style that connects to eachother too.
but that's just because you are one big family and get used to each others styles Razz

and..i made this in like 30 minutes so, yea i can do better then this but i was just looking at the sprites and just experementing with them..

from what I've seen of maple animators, the maple style is one where the character attacks, pauses and attacks again. they also like to float in the air a lot.

but hey, for 30 minutes you did a great job

NO SXR, People do animate in 40FPS plus higher to have a much smoother and better animation, that way, you can control slow motion and fast motion easier and you can make a lot of effects and insert sound effects and voices in the right timing, however, for long animations i tend to use mid FPS, which is 30FPS, usually, in games and animated movies, they and use 30 - 60 FPS! i dont lie, i actually have been inside an anime creation studio (Back in saudi arabia!)

Yeah, and most games aren't animated, all movements are controlled by the player/scripted events.

Wael, you need to understand that movies, cartoons, cutscenes in games, are usually between 24 - 30 FPS. Why? because going any higher is fucking retarded.

Anyone who animates any higher than 30 FPS is fucking retarded It's not needed. Games go at 60 FPS FOR the smooth movements and just that, it makes the game look smoother and play better. Games and videos are two different things.

Going at a higher FPS Is just giving yourself un-needed work. Everything just looks a little smoother is all, that's it. it doesn't add anything to the animation it just gives you more work.

Games are usually in 60 fps because it just seems to be a good natural fps for them.

plus
I don't about you guys but I never saw anyone that animates hand drawn stuff using frame rates higher than 25 fps. Maybe some people who animate sticks use 30, but they're nuts.
Anime is even slower. It's animated usually at 12 fps. Sometimes they may go and animate things at 24/25 fps, but that's a bit rare.

Most 3D games out there are generally played in 30 FPS. Reason? 30 FPS is what makes them natural. HURR HURR
Unless you're a PC gamer.
