Actually was thinking the same.... i remember seeing similiar things in person's X animation. I don't remember who that was but the animation was: how babys born/where babys come. I don't remember the name properly either Anyway it was sprite animation but the environment and bgs were actual forest photos. But yea i doubt it's his.

This isn't "detail"
The only detail you put in was the shadows. You literally took a realistic image and slapped sprites over it.
What i meant by "detail" was editing the hell out of your SPRITE background resources to making beautiful aesthetic scenery so the setting can have more feel to it, instead of lazily just looking for whatever BG and throwing in there for the sake of having a background.

The hell went through your head when you were doing this?

My view of this picture:


1. Even if you did that picture, it's full failure. That's why i put BIG X mark on that picture, and now i explain what went wrong.

2. That is the bg's source of light. It's coming from left or leftcorner and proof is that shade on tree

3. Next comes the piranhas shadow. Yea the shadow is right if you look at piranhas shades, that's why there is correct mark. The piranhans source of light comes from above it, yes, BUT what about the background's source of light? You have to think about the whole thing not just 1 sprite, so you already messed with 2 sources of light and that's your first failure.

4. Then comes the Yoshi with baby Mario. That is just wrong. The shadow under yoshi doesn't match with the shades the sprite itself has, so you just added 1 random source of light.... and that's why i put that BIG X on yoshi. Also where the heck is Marios part in yoshis shadow??? You forgot to add him on that shadow? I thought so....

SO now you have 4 sources of light. And not to mention that those 2 custom shadows under sprites doesn't match either...

And really, slapping sprites on a real life bg is stupid.

It looks stupid. I can see when you're joking (there's some gifs laying around with sprites on top of irl bgs) but if you're trying to make something that's not supposed to make people laugh, then no.
