3D Background Test
3/7/2012, 12:16 pm
I was bored waiting for Maplestory to come back online, stupid server maintenance, so I decided to try something new. 3D stuff.
Can you guys give me some critique so I that I can improve it? I may try using 3D later.

The far away bg shouldn't be skewed like that.

Can you give me an example of how it should look or explain how it should look?

Well in real life the background stays the same, it isn't skewed down, just moved to the right.
So really, it just looks like it should, without skewing it down.
And btw, a ground like this doesn't work that well in 3D anyway. It looks a bit fake. The best thing is to have a ground that you can't see where it ends.
But that's just what I think that works best.

i believe you should also choose the kind of ground you want, vector style or pixel style, here it's both and that looks ugly and seems like you didn't put much effort in it.

Don't try 3D in flash.
You'll never achieve it well. The only thing you can do is clever illusion to make it look like there's depth. Which needs manual animation, parallax and very clever scaling/skewing of the objects that are affected by the depth.

In other words; tedious.
Don't do it.

That's against everything we stand for, we don't ever say "yea just don't" when something is difficult. You provide better ways if possible and if not then you either don't post or you stick around and guide the OP through the tedious problem/give advice. But don't waste everyone's time with something like that.
Watch your ass.

the sceen looks kind of weird, if you wanna implement 3d illusions cuz their is no such thing as perfect 3d in flash use programs like After Effects or Blender
