Its not done. In fact we just started.
I hate to break your hearts but that screenshot is 100% fake.

I am posting it as a proof of concept. Me and a few expert programmers have just begun work on it. We believe its totally possible and that we can surely create it.

Expect updates.

In case anyone remembers.
This was once called "sprite land". This is basically gonna be flash on fucking steroids. It's gonna have pretty much everything you'll need, ever for a non full 3D project.

The program is a hybrid of 2d and 3d animation. The stage is in true 3d, and can animate 3d objects or 2d objects that work in 3d space. These can be flat shapes or "billboarded" (look that up).

All it would take is positioning the camera in full front view. The transform tools can be configured to work on restricted axes. All movements can be fixed to screen space, so the program can operate as if it were entirely 2d, yet all the flexibility in the program still exists and is usable.

awsome...the camera will help making 2d-3d transactions.
this sounds fun.hopfully it comes out before summer break.thats a couple of mouths from now.

That's unlikely. We have no idea how long this project will take before its publicly usable.

So is that black square thing in the top right background suppose to be a null object or something? Is something supposed to be head towards that direction? Looks like there is some AE concepts in there. Probably not though.

I just remembered something. Lange, are you going to give this to everyone when it's finished or only to experienced animators?

If you're going with the second option, that means that animators like me (which at least can make some average stuff) aren't going to get it?

You think this program is a joke?
And that black square thing is the camera. The lines extending from it represent the field of vision.
This won't be anything like After Effects. The program is meant to work like Flash, but with more comprehensive animation features. Any similarities to AE are incidental.

Giving it only to "experienced animators" doesn't make any sense. Not only is that biased and idiotic, it just means it will be distributed everywhere anyway and without a leash.

Besides, you think I would want to keep something like this to myself? I might as well tell everybody in the world to fuck off. No, I'm not that kind of guy.

I will be working with it privately for a while, not just for my own work, but to eliminate bugs and figure out what things should be changed or added. When the program reaches a more mature stage, we will release it as free, open source software. If the program gets attention, it just might get some volunteers to add even more features to it.
