Ripping Gameboy sounds couldn't be easier.
The sound chip only has 3 tone channels and one noise channel. All sound channels are monophonic, so while a sound effect of any kind is playing, all sounds in those channels are interrupted. The remaining channels are used for whatever music might be playing. All you have to do is silence a specific channel or two and only the sound effect itself will play. Record to wav, then crop the sound in Wavosaur or something.
VBA Emulator can toggle sound channels.

You didn't see nothing. BTW, a heads up for those who want to rip sounds from GBA games also. Well, you can, but you can't use the method explained above by Mr. Lange. That's because you can't toggle the sound channels of a GBA game. Just stick to GB games.
